As you may well know, getting backlinks especially good quality backlinks is the backbone of a good SEO strategy for your business. But how do you go about this if your a small business on a tight advertising budget?
Small is more flexible. Use the fact that only you take the decisions to your advantage. Your able to react to the latest breaking news before anyone else and notice changes in customer trends. Then just get that information published on your blog posts before the bigger competitors do.
Use a Linking Strategy. Most business websites find it hard to get other websites linking to you so create a useful blog as part of your website or even create a new site.It will make it much easier to people linking to your website if you can provide buyer information, product reviews and industry news from your niche. You can then link from this popular area or new site to your commercial site for more visitors.
Get listed in the local search. If your not already then look in Google and Yahoo for their local business listings. Listing is usually free. Plus get your website listed in industry relevant directories. Just do a Google search.
Tap into the power of Press Releases. Any changes to your business or fresh information about your industry sector can make a great press releases. Next look at which websites are linking to your competiton by using Yahoo's Site Explorer, then email the sites in question asking if they will link to you. Then by using the search engines, compile a list of the highest ranked websites in your industry and ask them to link to you as well.
Look at what your competitors do for link building and just copy them. Make sure that your business website is fully search engine optimised. Then get to work initiating the advice i have given. I guarantee you will see results within a week.
